Autoclaved aerated concrete, hatchet
1.5' x 2' x 1.5'
Nature is being lost in our concrete cities, gradually disappearing beneath the relentless expansion of urban development. Trimming aims to reconnect us with nature by symbolically chipping away at concrete structures to reveal the natural beauty that was lost. This piece also juxtaposes creation and destruction by including a hatchet that was used to cut down trees. Trimming encourages viewers to reflect on urbanization's impact on nature and consider integrating nature into our cities. It challenges us to rethink our relationship with the environment, inspiring appreciation and action to protect it.
